The Japanese Beetle
I was looking through my guitar collection last week, and I found this interesting instrument. It was built by the Ibanez custom shop around 1996. I played it in the video for the song "Stay Together" by Mr. Big. Since we were just miming for the camera, I didn't need to actually play, so I turned the guitar around and did the whole video left-handed.
Let's count the Beatle similarities going on here:
* Paul McCartney and I share the same first name.
* Paul McCartney plays a violin-shaped bass left-handed. I'm playing a violin-shaped guitar left-handed.
* The early Beatles wore suits. Everyone in Mr. Big is wearing a suit.
* Paul McCartney was in The Beatles. My guitar is a Japanese "Beetle."
* Cheap Trick borrowed the chord progression from The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper" for their song "Come On, Come On." I borrowed the chords from "Come On, Come On" for my song, "Stay Together."
* Paul McCartney wrote the song, "Yesterday." I wrote the song, "Technical Difficulties." Oh well, the similarities have to end somewhere.
