Learn "Christmas Time is Here" for Solo Guitar
Holiday music is known for beautiful jazz chord progressions, but not many rival the timeless and nostalgic favorite, "Christmas Time is Here." In this video, ArtistWorks jazz guitar instructor Dave Stryker teaches how to play it for solo guitar.
Penned by Vince Guaraldi and Lee Mendelson for the 1965 TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas, the song's melancholic chords and melody have made it a holiday standard. In fact, over the years it's been covered by jazz crooners and modern shredders alike (Mel Tormé and Steve Vai, to be specific!).
While originally written on piano, the song transcribes beautifully to guitar, as demonstrated by Dave. The song contains some relatively complex jazz guitar chords, making it ideal for intermediate to advanced players. Give it a shot, and happy holidays!
