Learn a Traditional Irish Folk Song on Mandolin
With everything going on right now, this St. Patrick's day may not be the most festive affair, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy learning a tune at home. After all, playing music can help us to feel good! So in that spirit, we’d like to offer a musical pot of gold (in the form of a free lesson) with mandolin master Mike Marshall. Put on some green, warm up with some mandolin scales, and learn to play the classic, “Fisher’s Hornpipe.”
“Fisher’s Hornpipe” is a traditional Irish tune that is full of fast-changing mandolin chords. With a song this fast, you are certain to develop your strumming and picking ability. “This [song] has a couple of moves in it that you’ll be able to use in many, many places,” says Mike. “We’re building our little repertoire of riffs that we’ll be able to use in many ways throughout the course.”
Check out the video below to get Mike’s full lesson on “Fisher’s Hornpipe.” And remember, play more and feel better.
