Since 2010, ArtistWorks mandolin instructor Mike Marshall has directed the Acoustic Music Seminar program at the Savannah Music Festival. Each year young talented string players audition to play in the enemble-focused educational program. It's a great opportunity for these young students to work with seasoned musicians and gain experience playing on stage. Check out the performance video from the finale concert, these kids have some serious chops!
"It’s like no other camp experience I have ever been involved with. These are the top kids in the country getting to meet each other, play together and work under the guidance of some of the top players in the world. Each player brings in their own compositions and must lead an ensemble. I mix and match the players based on the style of the tune being presented. The week ends with a performance the last night of the festival in a beautiful concert hall. It is a dream experience for all involved (students AND faculty).
Nothing like it exists in the country today for the young Americana musician. I wish I would have had this kind of opportunity when I was that age." - Mike Marshall
