Music In Our Schools Month

Since 1985, Music In Our Schools Month has been observed as a yearly month-long focus and celebration of music in our educational system.. As well, the educators who dedicate themselves to bringing music into the lives of students every day are honored and appreciated for the important role they play.

There are many reasons why music education in schools is important. Musical training develops language, vocabulary and reason, helps with memorization, improves  coordination and helps students score higher on the SAT. One report indicates some students score 63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on math. And, oh yeah, it’s fun!

It is for those reasons and more that for the last 30 years, March has been officially designated by the National Association for Music Education as Music In Our Schools Month, the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation.

Some of the cool activities being planned in schools across the United States include putting together virtual talent shows using social media platforms like Zoom, Tik-Tok and Instagram. Some students will perform music dressed in costumes from different musical eras from Mozart to the Beatles to The Weeknd. Other students are even drawing and designing an instrument of the future.

ArtistWorks was built on the mission of helping all musicians improve their craft. We believe every month can be Music in Our Schools Month. For over a decade, we’ve connected players with expert musical talent with amazing results. ArtistWorks students produce albums, play in local bands, appear on social media and much more.

It was from this belief in the importance of music education that the ArtistWorks Certificate Program was born. Through this meaningful, structured program, participating students get the opportunity to achieve the next level in their playing—and in life. In addition to more traditional classes in music theory, ear training, how to read music and tablature and dealing with performance anxiety, the ArtistWorks certificate program offers the following courses:

-The ArtistWorks Blues Guitar Certificate Course

-The ArtistWorks Ukulele Certificate Course

And the best part: students can earn course credit in grades 9-12 for learning with us! We are accredited as a supplemental education provider by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges).

We're tremendously proud of ArtistWorks' students' achievements, and the role we've played in facilitating them.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to play music? Try out a free music lesson from an ArtistWorks instructor and get started on the right path. You’ll quickly see what makes ArtistWorks some of the best online music lessons around.
