New Lessons & Holiday Challenge 2019: Mele Kalikimaka
We're excited to announce the addition of 3 new lessons on the tune "Mele Kalikimaka" for a new 2019 Holiday Challenge with 3 different badges you can earn for submitting VE's!
"Mele Kalikimaka" is a Hawaiian-themed Christmas song written in 1949 by Robert Alex Anderson. The song takes its title from the Hawaiian phrase Mele Kalikimaka, meaning "Merry Christmas." One of the earliest recordings of this song was by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters in 1950 and it has been covered by many artists and featured in films such as L.A. Confidential, Catch Me If You Can and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
Craig & Sarah filmed over 75 minutes of teaching between the three versions of the tune! The first is the basic version where Sarah breaks down the chords and progression in a simple beginner version. You can find this lesson at the end of the Beginner lessons or to go directly there now, click here.
The second version is a more "jazzy" variation that expands on the chord voicing options and ways to play through the parts of the progression adding more embellishment. This lesson can be found in the Intermediate lesson or to go directly there now, click here.
The third and most challenging version is a chord melody variation taught by Craig and has the most advanced variations of the series. The lesson can be found at the end of the Intermediate lessons or to go directly there now, click here.
Each lesson is complete with tablature to help you find the notes and we've also posted them in the 30 Day Challenge section so you can find them all there too. We hope you have a wonderful time learning this ukulele holiday classic, Aloha!
