In Stu’s previous new lesson releases, he published detailed instructional videos for beginner and intermediate players outlining critical concepts connected to the pentatonic scale. The new lessons published today include the final installment in this series—moving into more advanced-level instruction focused on utilizing the pentatonic scale in improvisations and solos.

Stu also provides lessons on two tunes from his recent album release, Hold Fast—“Tales of My Midwestern Youth” and “When This is Over”. In addition to teaching his fingerstyle bass lines from these two songs, Stu also uses this opportunity to outline his funky slap bass techniques exemplified in “When This is Over”.

Alongside Stu’s video instruction, these new lessons include fresh learning materials to supplement Stu’s teaching—including tablature, notation, play-along backing tracks, and more. In fact, the play-along backing tracks for “Tales of My Midwestern Youth” and “When This is Over” are the board mixes from the actual Hold Fast album with the bass removed.
