Our Favorite Musical Ladies
In March, we lauched our first ever scholarship competition: Girls Make Music.
Girls make music and they sound awesome. We know this first hand, from our rockin' female instructors: Sarah Maisel (Ukulele), Christie Peery (Piano), Missy Raines (Bluegrass Bass), and Caterina Lichtenberg (Classical Mandolin). You can learn directly from any of these music legends in their ArtistWorks schools.
We are also very proud of our library only schools, which offer lessons taught by world renowned female vocalists: the late Jeannie Diva and Lari White.
We launched the Girls Make Music scholarships because we are passionate about cultivating music talent around the world. Despite the fact that some of the most recognizable talents in music are women, only 22% of top 100 recording artists today are female. Read more about the state of women in music here.
From International Women's Day to March 31st, we received countless submissions on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
To all the wonderful women who submitted or were nominated: thank you! Sadly, we could only choose three winners.
We've compiled a list of our honorable mentions:
Gail, Blues Guitar with Keith Wyatt
Cathydott, Instagram Submission
Nualagrams, Rock Guitar with Paul Gilbert
Cornelia, Twitter Nomination
Sarah, Twitter Submission
The lucky winners have been contacted! Thank you again to our honorable mentions, and all others, who submitted. Join ArtistWorks today, we can't wait to hear you play.
