Special Guest Interview: Béla Fleck
The Flecktones, lead by fusion banjoist Béla Fleck, has been a revolutionary force in the world of banjo, pushing the boundaries of the instrument since the 1980s. The Flecktones consist of founding members Howard Levy on harmonica and piano, and brothers Victor and Roy (Futureman) Wooten on Bass and Drums, respectively. Each of them bring different musical backgrounds and influences to the band's sound that is wonderfully unique, and each of them are revered as innovators and virtuosos. Backstage before their show at the Crest Theater in Sacramento this past June, Béla and Howard sat down with ArtistWorks CEO and Co-Founder Patricia Butler to discuss how Béla and Howard first met, the blurring of musical genres, what it's like to win a Grammy as a band that defies genre categorization, and much more.
