Tony Trischka's "Danny Boy" Banjo Lesson

Here's some banjo music in honor of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day: the classic Irish folk song "Danny Boy", broken down on banjo by Tony Trischka. Keep in mind, this is just a sample from the actual lesson. Students of Tony's online banjo school have access to hundreds of banjo lessons, complete with banjo tablature and backing tracks to play along to.
Tony breaks down the melody bit by bit, showing you what you need to play. He starts on the A7 chord: bar the first 3 strings on the 2nd fret, and add the pinky on the 4th string of the 5th fret. Tony does an "inside pinch" here, then goes down to the 4th fret on the 4th string and pinches that with the first 2 strings, then he bars the 2nd fret to hit the 4th, 2nd, and 1st strings, and it ends with a strumming of the full D chord.
From all of us at the ArtistWorks Academy of Bluegrass, have a great St. Patrick's Day! For more info and other free banjo lessons visit www.tonybanjo.com.
