Why Playing Progress Stalls: Bryan Sutton
Welcome to the latest episode of the ArtistWorks Music Series podcast! This week, ArtistWorks CEO Patricia Butler sits down with Grammy® award-winning and nine-time International Bluegrass Music Association Guitar Player of the Year, flatpick guitar master Bryan Sutton to discuss how to overcome roadblocks in your musical journey. The show is available wherever you listen to podcasts, or you can listen here on ArtistWorks.
Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting on your musical journey, Sutton maintains that improvement depends on the same basic principles. “Aim for a fundamental level of quality that is defined through these components: Rhythm (meaning groove and timing), tone (meaning the voice of the instrument), how you connect one note to the next, and being able to convey an overarching expressive quality. All these components come together to define quality playing.”
