Wrapping Up the Big Jazz Getaway
Last week's Big Jazz Getaway was a huge success! An in-studio experience that paired master musicians Howard Levy (harmonica and piano), John Patitucci (bass) and Martin Taylor (guitar) along with three contest winners, the event culminated with a live stream viewed by music fans from around the world.
Our winners — keyboardist Janice J. of Tucson, AZ, guitarist Clarence W. from Detroit, MI, and bassist Peter V. of Oxnard, CA — had the opportunity to be in the presence of these great musicians, jam, and receive one-on-one lessons. They also got a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how the magic happens at ArtistWorks HQ, getting a tour of the studio and video production process. Not a bad way to spend a day!
In the live stream, which you can watch below, Levy, Patitucci and Taylor play together for the very first time, a special moment that we are thrilled happened in our own studio. From the opening moments of the first tune, their undeniable musical connection is immediately evident. The trio also answer questions submitted by our viewers about music, their lives and careers. Violinist Darol Anger makes a surprise appearance, too!
Check out the live stream and photos below. Look like fun? Enter for your chance to attend the just-announced 2020 Big Bluegrass Getaway, a one-of-a-kind learning/jamming experience with Noam Pikelny, Bryan Sutton, and Andy Hall!
