Darol Anger Jams with Bronwyn Keith-Hynes
Hearing an amazingly talented musician perform solo is always a treat. However, when two brilliant minds join forces and play as a duet, the potential for a truly spectacular musical performance increases exponentially. It’s especially intriguing to hear two musicians perform on the same instrument side-by-side. The unique qualities of each player are amplified in the context of duelling instruments, which often makes for a remarkable listening experience.
Recently, master fiddler, ArtistWorks instructor, and founding member of the David Grisman Quintet, Darol Anger had the opportunity to sit down with fellow fiddle virtuoso Bronwyn Keith-Hynes to perform a few tunes as a duet. Among these tunes were two Bill Monroe classics, “Fire on the Mountain” and “Road to Columbus.”
Bronwyn Keith-Hynes is a rising star in the world of bluegrass fiddle and has become a familiar face among the heavy-hitters of the scene. Named Fiddle Player of the Year in 2021 by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), Bronwyn has continued to gain much-deserved momentum and notoriety over the last several years, going back even as far as 2014 to the formation of her bluegrass group, Mile Twelve.
“I love playing with other fiddlers,” Bronwyn explains. “It instantly sparks inspiration and allows for new ideas to easily blossom.”

In 2020, Bronwyn released her debut solo album, Fiddler’s Pastime, which features several original compositions as well as guest appearances by Sarah Jarosz, Laura Orsha, James Kee, Tim O’Brien, Wes Corbett, and ArtistWorks bluegrass instructors Sierra Hull and Chris Eldridge. Currently, Bronwyn is on the road touring throughout the United States as a member of guitarist and songwriter Molly Tuttle’s group, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway.
“Double fiddles create a really wonderful and unique sound,” explains Bronwyn. “We featured double fiddles on the title track of my most recent record, Fiddler’s Pastime. The tune includes a guest performance from fellow fiddler Laura Orsha that’s just wonderful.”
