Darol Anger & Mr. Sun Release Vinyl Pressing of “Extrovert”
This morning, Grammy-nominated bluegrass master and ArtistWorks fiddle instructor, Darol Anger and his band Mr. Sun released limited edition yellow vinyl pressings of their latest album entitled Extrovert.
Mr. Sun’s highly anticipated sophomore release, Extrovert, became available across all popular digital platforms and streaming services on May 13 of this year. However, today, the album can officially be purchased in a striking, limited edition yellow vinyl pressing. Plus, for a limited time, the band will be signing copies of the vinyl sleeve as well. Extrovert picks up right where Mr. Sun’s first record, The People Need Light, leaves off, incorporating elements of bluegrass, jazz, and swing to create an upbeat, playful melting pot of American roots-inspired styles.
A powerhouse quartet comprised of musicians spanning two generations, Mr. Sun is led by fiddle virtuoso Darol Anger and features Joe K. Walsh on mandolin and vocals, Grant Gordy on acoustic guitar, and Aiden O’Donnell on upright bass.
“As we try to crack each other up, we find ourselves making the music we hoped we'd always hear,” Darol explains. “I can always count on Joe, Grant, and Aidan to totally jump onto the emotional arc of every song, which gets to looking more and more like a rainbow or a rocket trail and sounds like maybe nine guys sometimes.”
In addition to demonstrating extreme musical prowess and expert-level chops throughout Extrovert, Mr. Sun emanates pure joy in this new album that will keep listeners continually putting the album on rotation.
“Mr. Sun is relaxing in a way that makes my mind flip on, spark, and spin,” explains Darol. “I think it'll do the same for most people who like acoustic string music.”
