How Star Wars can help you learn how to draw

how to draw star wars art

Who doesn't love Star Wars? Not Justin BUA, that's for sure. And he's not the only one out there who knows how to draw who feels this way. Given that the films are visually spectacular, as art lovers we can't help but love Star Wars art. Well, the KING of Star Wars art was a guy named John Berkey, and BUA wants to make sure you know all about him. There's actually an important reason for this that goes beyond appreciation for Star Wars art that will help you as you're learning how to draw. Oh yes, this stuff goes way beyond Star Wars.

You see, when it came to drawing architectural landscapes, architectural design, drawing spaceships, flying crafts and space environments, John Berkey was The Man (or "beast" as BUA prefers). So for anyone who wants to know how to draw a cool spaced-out landscape, then you definitely need to study John Berkey's art. Or if you're working on how to draw cities, buildings, or anything that contains some sort of "architectural madness", there are many important art lessons to be learned from John Berkey.

John Berkey was born in 1932 and lived most of his life in Minnesota before passing away in 2008. He worked in an advertising agency for eight years before becoming a freelance artist in the 1960s. Berkey was commissioned to paint the original poster art for the Star Wars trilogy, and was also well known for painting the "Old Elvis Stamp". He painted using mostly casein or acrylic paint.
