International Bluegrass Music Corn-vention!

what a big weekend for Bluegrass music! The IBMA Convention in Nashville last week was even more amazing than usual, with the awards night held in the historic Ryman Auditorium celebrating Bill Monroe's 100th birthday this year.

Lots of great picking and singing and yakking and hanging out could make a person kinda tired but we press on, with renewed inspiration, drive, and tone.

The list of great tunes to teach grows, thanks to you all, and I'm looking at the list and working on match up essential fiddle techniques with each tune, so they can be put in some sort of sensible order on the site. Every good fiddle tune has a musical "point", or story, beyond its basic appeal, and my task is to identify that hinge concept and explain it in a fun and musically enlightening manner...and that's why I get the big bucks...!?!?!!? ha ha!

Seriously, it was fantastic to meet some of our community there at the convention, and I'm looking forward to more face-to-face contact in the future. Who knows? maybe a few years down the road, we'll have an ArtistWorks Bluegrass School convention too!
