Martin, Jeff Beck and other news

During recent touring Martin met up with his old friend Jeff Beck and the following morning Jeff went on BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans Breakfast Show and told Chris that Martin was his favorite guitarist saying "He can out shred all of us!". Chris Evans called Martin straight away and the following morning Martin was performing and chatting live on Chris' show to 9.2 million listeners across the UK!

A few days later Martin was on a plane to New York to begin his solo US tour which concentrated mostly on the East Coast, although concerts in Nashville and Denver were added to the end of the tour.

Back in the UK Martin performed at the London Blues Festival before heading north to appear at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival with 13 year old Slovakian jazz guitarist Andreas Varady. Andreas was recently awarded a scholarship to the Martin Taylor Guitar Academy.

Rehearsals for his "Spirit of Django Orchestral Suite" began shortly after that in Manchester with the Royal Northern College of Music Orchestra and Big Band conducted by co-composer Guy Barker. This is only the second time that Martin and Guy's suite has been performed since it's premier at the International Guitar Festival of Great Britain last November 2010 with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Martin recently headed back to California to play more solo concerts before he flies to to Italy next week to play at the Lake Como Music Festival. In September he will be back in the US to play at the Djangofest NW near Seattle as special guest with the Seattle based group 'Pearl Django' as well as performing more solo shows on the West Coast.
