Martin Taylor - Introduction to 10ths "The Scaffolding"
The right chord voicing can bring dazzling new life to an existing arrangement and be a powerful creative device for writing harmonies. To make this incredible technique more accessible to his students, Fingerstyle guitar virtuoso Martin Taylor has developed “The Scaffolding of 10ths”. Taylor describes the “The Scaffolding of 10th” as “a key that will open up your understanding of how chords work and how harmonies work”.
In the video Taylor demonstrates how to invert chord voicings and the impact it has on his sound. “You can be playing essentially the same chord,” he explains, “but where you place the intervals can give it an entirely new feel, texture, and sound.”
