On this podcast, Tony discusses the development of the many subgenres within the world of bluegrass music. “Bluegrass is bluegrass but that encompasses a lot of different styles” Tony explains, “They’re not necessarily called something specific, but individual artists like Bill Monroe carved out unique sounds that have become the blueprint for artists to come.”
Progressive banjo player Tony Trischka is a legend and one of the major innovators of the “chromatic” banjo style, making him a unique voice in the world of bluegrass. He produced Steve Martin’s GRAMMY-nominated Rare Bird Alert, which featured performances by Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks.
