What’s New at ArtistWorks: Courses from Sierra Hull, Jared James Nichols, & Chris Eldridge
Since July, we’ve had the exciting opportunity to welcome three new master musicians to our amazing faculty of world-renowned instructors here at ArtistWorks. Together, these three champions of their craft provide their unique, expert perspectives and methods to students interested in learning how to play the bluegrass mandolin, flatpick acoustic guitar, and blues and hard rock guitar.
BLUEGRASS MANDOLIN WITH SIERRA HULL:
On August 18, 2021, we launched our latest bluegrass mandolin course taught by preeminent mandolin virtuoso Sierra Hull. At only thirty years of age, Sierra is already a Grammy Award-winning artist and has been named “Mandolin Player of the Year” four times by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Since her early childhood, Sierra has collaborated with iconic artists like Alison Krauss, Garth Brooks, Sturgill Simpson, and more, and was recently featured on multiple tracks of Béla Fleck’s latest critically acclaimed album, My Bluegrass Heart.
Sierra has drawn from her decades of performance experience to create a comprehensive course of online mandolin lessons designed to teach players of all levels how to play modern bluegrass. Her course starts with the basics and teaches everything from beginner mandolin to advanced performance techniques and tunes. So, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player, all levels are welcome and all students will grow and improve their skills as mandolinists and musicians!
As you progress through her course, you’ll not only build a solid foundation as a player but also learn classic bluegrass standards, songwriting techniques, and dive into some of Sierra’s original music as well. Through her hundreds of video lessons, Sierra teaches mandolin chords, scales, and techniques, and provides dozens of play-along backing trackings and mandolin tabs so you can immediately put what you’re learning into practice. What truly sets this course apart is the ability to receive personal feedback on your playing and progress directly from Sierra in the form of Video Exchanges. BLUES ROCK GUITAR WITH JARED JAMES NICHOLS:
On September 21, 2021, we launched our latest electric guitar course taught by blues and hard rock powerhouse Jared James Nichols. Jared has traveled the world, spreading his unique flavor of vintage-inspired modern blues rock. As the frontman of his namesake power trio, Jared is always sure to bring the "Blues Power," and, as you watch him perform, his captivating presence, energy, and inarguable musical mastery quickly become infectious. Throughout his career, Jared has toured across the US and Europe with acts like Living Colour, Blue Öyster Cult, Zakk Wylde, Glenn Hughes, Walter Trout, Fozzy, and John 5, and has shared the stage with rock and blues guitar legends like Slash, Billy Gibbons, Peter Frampton, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Vai, Leslie West, and more.
Jared has pulled from a lifetime of experience as a professional musician to bring a series of online guitar lessons that provide players of all levels with every tool needed to master the electric guitar. His course starts with fundamental guitar chords and scales and teaches everything from beginner guitar to advanced riffs and improvisation techniques. So, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player, all levels are welcome and all students will quickly grow into “Blues Power” shredders!
Jared’s guided path of lessons includes custom riffs and exercises paired with downloadable play-along tracks and guitar tabs created exclusively for this course. BLUEGRASS GUITAR WITH CHRIS ELDRIDGE:
On September 10, 2021, we announced our latest acoustic guitar course that will be launching in mid-October taught by master guitarist, Chris Eldrige. As a co-founder of the Grammy Award-winning bluegrass outfit, Punch Brothers, Chris “Critter” Eldridge is widely considered one of the premier acoustic guitarists of the modern era and has performed around the globe with some of the most prolific groups in the modern bluegrass scene. Throughout his already illustrious career, Chris has had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in pop, bluegrass, rock, and jazz, including Paul Simon, Renée Fleming, John Paul Jones, Marcus Mumford, Justin Timberlake, T-Bone Burnett, Julian Lage, Jon Brion, Fiona Apple, The War and Treaty, Jerry Douglas, I’m With Her, and Del McCoury. In addition to receiving eight Grammy nominations to date and one Grammy win in 2018, Chris was also named “Instrumentalist of the Year” by the Americana Music Association in 2019.
Like Sierra and Jared, Chris has brought decades of expertise and experience to his guided path of online guitar lessons and has designed his curriculum for acoustic guitarists of all levels. Chris’ course starts with the acoustic guitar basics and teaches everything from introductory methods to advanced performance techniques and mindful musicianship and practice.
