Beginner Acoustic Guitar For Adults: Taking Lessons, or Not
Taking Lessons...or not!
Maybe you’re new to playing acoustic guitar or have been “noodling” for a long time. For most players, there comes a time when you’re not entirely sure if what you’re doing is right. Some people can live with that uncertainty and others seek assurance. Deciding to get some guidance can feel like a bigger commitment and more stress than a beginner guitar player might be willing to make. Just the word “lessons” can evoke the same tension and attitude we’ve had toward “school”, “homework” and “rules”. But it doesn’t have to be that way. As an adult, you can dedicate however much time you want to learn guitar. But your musical expectations and instruction will need to be reflective of the time you’re going to set aside as well as your approach to learning.
