Tony Trischka Celebrates 11,000 Video Exchanges!
For nearly 40 years, Tony Trischka has been a pillar of the bluegrass genre. Over the course of his prolific career, Tony has become an icon of the banjo, a mentor to countless bluegrass legends, and an inspiration to innumerable musicians around the globe.
Since joining the ArtistWorks roster as our instructor of bluegrass banjo in 2009, Tony has played an integral role in helping us achieve our mission—to “Teach the World Music”—and continues to bring his passion, dedication, and musical mastery to his online instruction.
We’re excited and proud to announce that last week, Tony completed his 11,000th Video Exchange. Congratulations Tony! What a fantastic milestone, and a true testament to your dedication to your students and commitment to sharing your knowledge and skills. Thank you for all that you do!
We’d also like to thank all of Tony’s wonderful bluegrass banjo pupils for consistently submitting videos and for being a part of this amazing online musical community!
“I’ve been teaching banjo since 1970—with students privately and also hosting clinics and whatnot” Tony explains. “There is something completely unique about the Video Exchange experience that allows me to teach differently, and I’ve been able to refine this approach over the last 14 years teaching at ArtistWorks. I’m able to analyze the details of someone’s playing with a careful eye when watching them on video in a way that allows me to provide them with the best possible guidance on next steps.”
Judging by this wonderful Video Exchange milestone, Tony’s teaching techniques have clearly made an impact, as he’s had the opportunity to meet, mentor, and guide a vast array of bluegrass banjo players worldwide.
“I think all of us have a profound innate creativity,” explains Tony. “It’s been amazing to watch my students’ creativity blossom on the banjo, and I’m routinely astounded by the progress they make and what they come up with. For example, I’ll share a simple, fundamental technique with my students, and they’ll take that technique and use it to craft beautiful original compositions that they share with me in Video Exchanges. It’s really amazing!”
